Jenny Aarrekangas

Designer and seamstress

Jenny Aarrekangas

I love creating beautiful clothes and jewellery, that can be worn time and time again! Even as a child, my main interests were drawing and handicrafts. And everything that I made, would be worn. Already back then, it was obvious that I would become a clothing designer.

Before I started studying design, I tried studying art and Bachelor of cosmetics and beauty. I also have a degree in classical massage. Today I can see how all these subjects provide a deeper understanding of the design and fit of clothing.

The most important questions for me during a fitting is: How does it feel to you? Your favorite garment is surely the one you feel your best in? The garment which makes you feel confident, pretty, elegant, you looking your best in any situation in your life!

The design process

When I make tailor-made clothes, I am working with finding the unique personal style. In my maternity collections, I work more with classic cuts, but like to add small trend elements such as colors and details. My jewellery and accessories are classic, with a little bohemian touch, which you can combine with your existing garments in your wardrobe or as a complement to your new outfit.

I established Studio Jenny Aarrekangas in 2013, after graduating as a designer, in clothing design. Since the beginning, I have specialized in women’s clothing with a good fit for special occasions.

Sustainability and fashion

My philosophy from a sustainability perspective is not to produce large quantities in stock. What is produced must also be used. I like to work with sustainable materials, but even more importantly to me is that the product fulfills its function and is used time and time again. My products in my Etsy shop are made to order, according to demand.

The maternity dresses are mainly sewn as rental dresses for photographers, who are specialized in maternity photography. The dresses are thus used more times than a normal party dress. All my model dresses in stock can be rented for different occasions. You don’t have to buy a new one, you can rent or borrow your dress for the photo shoot or the party. Get in touch and I’ll tell you more!
